Thanksgivng 2008

Taylor had the Young men over for a progressive dinner last night. He said the girls always have a nice dinner so why can't the boys? So 17 boys and 4 leaders came to our house for the main dish. We set the tables with china and candles. I think they had fun. If they weren't full it was their own fault. The food was really good and plentiful.

We had a good Thanksgiving and went to see the new Disney movie Bolt with all the kids. Good food too much of it though. I’m thankful for our family. I know we all have our quirks but that’s what makes life interesting. Grammies kitchen is huge and gave us plenty of room to cook and carve the turkey. We weren’t clamoring on top of each other. Brad was making his cream corn, Taylor was making the gravy, Tom was cutting the turkey and ham, people were snacking on the appetizers, I was making the mashed potatoes, there was a table just for desserts/ pies and there was still room.

Things I’m grateful for at this time in my life:

Brett serving his mission

A dishwasher that works and a husband who fills it every night.

A car that is dependable.

The Simmons who live close and Olivia who drives Chaz to seminary and school every day.

Good teachers who inspire my children and myself. Our Sunday School lesson on the Jaredites today was so thought provoking.

Good friends who inspired me to get shelves in the garage and put my food storage on them where I can see it. We did that this weekend and put up our Christmas lights.

A husband and 5 sons who honor their priesthood and fulfill their callings.

A daughter who is beautiful, helpful, kind, and has a believing heart.

2 precious, busy, darling grandchildren that live close and love to come over.

A husband’s doctor education that makes me feel secure when lots of jobs and the economy is so shakey.

Gas prices of $1.89 a gallon. Amazing!

Computers that send emails magically so that we don’t have to wait for 6 weeks of turn around for communication.

The ability to cook for a large family and the money to afford to.

Scriptures that teach me the things I need to be doing and help me and comfort me when I read them.

The temple. I can feel at peace when everything is in turmoil all around me. I love getting the eternal perspective back when I attend the temple.

Parents who are still alive and love me and raised me in the gospel and now that I think of it, Grandparents too.

A Savior who loves me and has atoned for my sins and my mistakes.

The Holy Ghost who is always reminding me of things and protecting me and inspiring me to do what is right.

Good movies. We just watched My Fair Lady and West Side Story. Such a good old fashioned musicals.

Good books. I just finished reading a good kids book with Juli called The Inventions of Hugo Cabret. It had really amazing illustrations. I also just finished reading the new Nicolas Sparks book The Lucky One and the Twilight series and Sherie Dew’s book the Lord wants a Powerful People. All good. I love to read. Just wish I had more time.

This time of Thanksgiving that helps remind me of all the blessings I have. I am indeed over abundantly blessed. I wonder what I did in the life before I came here that landed me all these great blessings. I am so thankful for my life and the opportunity I have to be a mother and wife.

Ok today we finally counted Brett's cups….lol. 481! He saved his water cup every day he worked at In & Out. We had fun making things out of his pile of cups. Actually it was hilarious all of the shapes and sizes you can make out of 481 cups. Want cheap entertainment? Buy a bag of cups and go nuts.

I did the art lesson in Juli's class last week. 2 of the pics are from that day making the shakes and having the kids have In & Out, a good old fashioned meal to celebrate the American artist Roy Lichtenstein.

Jenny put make up on Chaz to make him look like Jasper from the Twilight movie. He did look like him I'm not going to lie. Kind of weird...creepy....I love his curly hair. His newfound hormones have left him with curly, curly beautiful hair.

I apologize for the condition Sam left your kitchen. He said it "wasn't bad" but I know what that really means.
