You go Erika! She finished a half marathon last weekend in Irvine. We got to see her cross the finish line. It was so emotional. Josh had a smoothie ready for her but she was starving for pancakes. We used the trusty ol' GPS and found an IHOP 2 miles away. It was amazing sharing the emotion of the day! We are so proud of her!
Chaz has officially finished his Eagle Scout! It is a defining moment for me as a mother of FIVE Eagle Scouts. We started out saying they couldn't drive until they got it but I don't know if I would've stuck to that except that the boys who had their Eagle, made sure the younger boys knew they couldn't drive until they earned it so the cycle continued. I will claim the other four but Chaz's Eagle is all Taylor's. He has been his Scout master since he's been 11 and has been on every outing and scout camp. At the Board of Review they commented on the classic Boy Scout pants Chaz had on. They were probably Taylors. He had to suck it in to get them on. You go Taylor and Chaz!
We took a whirlwind trip to St. George to visit Taylor's Mom and Dad with Eric and Mickey this last weekend. Mari and Jeremy met us there which was also a lot of fun. Gosh I wish we lived closer. It is so hard caring for a stroke victim by yourself. She doesn't want to be a burden and no matter how many times we tell her it would be a blessing to help them, I don't think she believes us and I know she won't leave St. George. As I've witnessed this struggle for her I think about my own life. I don't think I could stand it living so far away from all of my kids and grandkids. In fact I think I would move to be closer to them even if it meant living in the snow. (Which is a huge deal to anyone who knows me.) Their life could be so full of family and love and help....Well, we love them and were happy to take them "out" to Cafe Rio and shopping for the day. Taylor and Eric took turns pushing Dad in the wheel chair and giving him a little excitement for one day. We tired them out because by 7:30 they were ready for bed.
